Gallery profile

Acquavella Galleries was founded in 1921 by Nicholas Acquavella, father of the current owner, Wiliam Acquavella, who runs the gallery with his children, Nicholas, Alexander, and Eleanor Acquavella. Acquavella Galleries specializes in Impressionist and twentieth-century works of art, including Post-Impressionist, Cubist, Surrealist, and post-war American Art. The gallery is located just off Madison Avenue, at 18 East 79th Street in New York City, where it has been since the 1960s.

The gallery has done business with major museums in the United States, Europe, and Asia as well as private collectors throughout the world. The gallery has presented museum-quality exhibitions of Bonnard, Braque, Cézanne, Degas, Freud, Giacometti, Léger, Matisse, Miró, Modigliani, Monet, Picasso, Pissarro, Rauschenberg, Renoir, Sisley.

Acquavella is the exclusive international agent for James Rosenquist, Damian Loeb and Enoc Perez. The gallery also represents Wayne Thiebaud.
